Where Emotions Flow

Introduction

Many students in school have many things going on in their school lives which

could contain both academic work and social work. Some students might have sports, clubs, work, etc. However, some students might feel more stressed if they have trouble balancing both school and their social life. For instance, studying for tests and practicing for sports and games. How can teens manage their time wisely and balance both school and being social especially at this important time where they have more schoolwork and less time to hang out with their friends?

Ways to manage both

  • Prioritizing things that are more important and planning ahead

  • Setting realistic goals that you can keep

  • Have efficient work habits

  • Take breaks

  • Take time for yourself and practicing self-care by taking more care of yourself

Why is this important?

Managing both a social life and your academics is important because it can satisfy

both your academic life and your social life. Without knowing how to manage both, you can really affect your mental health and cause more stress for yourself. Having more stress can cause you to do worse on things that you might’ve expected to do better on. For example, tests, assignments and sport games. You would also be happier when you are hanging out with your friends and de- stressing with them. If you know how to manage both of these things well, it is also proven by research from the American Psychological Association that students perform better and have better social interactions. Therefore, it is very important to learn to manage your social life and academics well.
